How much is on offers?
The state pension changes every April, with increases roughly based on how much prices have been rising the previous year. The payments are then fixed for 12 months. Until April 2007 anyone who qualifies for the full pension will get £84.25 a week. The payments will then rise by £3.05 a week for the next 12 months and the following year’s payments will be announced in the autumn of 2007. At some point in the next decade there are plans to base future pension increases on average earnings rather than on inflation figures. That’s expected to make the increases more generous.
