The Government is trying to make it easier for people to find out if they are on track to get a full state pension. It is also keen to give people information on how they can make up for lost time. Look at www.direct.gov.uk for a host of official background to the state pension and go to www.thepensionservice.gov.uk and click on State Pension Forecast for a personal indication of your situation. Individual forecasts take around 12 days to be sent out and you can also apply for one by ringing 0845 3000168.
